Dental Emergencies

In dentistry, prevention is always the best way to treat dental problems. But sometimes that isn’t an option. Whether you’re suffering from oral pain because of tooth decay or an injury, Crane Family Dentistry can provide relief. Our Ladson, SC dental office has same-day appointments for dental emergencies.

Any injury to the teeth or gums can be potentially serious and should not be ignored. Ignoring a dental problem can increase the risk of permanent damage, as well as the need for more extensive and expensive treatment down the road. Please give us a call and we can help you temporarily alleviate your dental discomforts until a permanent solution can be determined and arranged.

Possible Symptoms of an Emergency

Dental emergencies aren’t the same as medical emergencies. While the emergency room may expect you to be in immediate danger, our only requirement is that you think your issue is an emergency. If you’re in pain or have dental discomfort, you are entitled to get out of both!

Whether you’re in pain or not, there are a few other ways to identify a dental problem as an emergency:

  • A loose tooth or knocked-out permanent tooth
  • Bleeding from your gums, lips, or tongue
  • Injury to your mouth, including a cracked or broken tooth

While we definitely consider bleeding from the mouth to be a dental emergency, bleeding that will not stop is a medical emergency. If your mouth is bleeding and will not stop, please visit an emergency room as soon as you can.

Pay attention to your dental health and make it a priority to visit our dentists for urgent care. Pain does occasionally go away, but that doesn’t mean your problem has been solved. It often means that your tooth has died and that a worse infection is on the horizon. We can treat whatever has happened and ensure it doesn’t get worse.
